Birth Doula
Doulas provide physical, emotional and practical support before, during and after labour.
I am also a Mum, and a recently retired Nurse. I love what I do and am passionate about supporting women and couples in pregnancy, birth and family life. I completed my doula training in Dubai in 2009 with Nurturing Birth, an organisation fully accredited to Doula UK. While living in Dubai I was lucky enough to work as a regular doula before returning to the UK in 2010 and setting up Doulababes. Doula is an ancient Greek word meaning woman servant. Today it is a birth companion, guide or coach. She is well informed, has completed an accredited training, provides guidance and reassurance helping you to make informed decisions about your birth. "Dear Lucy, Thank you for everything you did for us both (three!) in the run up to Elkie's birth. You made us feel so calm, informed and excited. Your influence had so much effect and we're so pleased to have worked with you. We also had fun and hope to stay in touch. May our little gift add a touch of calm to your life - as you'd for us." Polly and Rory.
